Brian Holt
Brian Anthony Holt was born and raised in the small town of Galion, Ohio, and began exploring art as far back as he can remember. He attended the Art Institute of Pittsburgh before joining the Army in 2005. After leaving the service in 2016 he attended El Paso Community College and began taking art courses. He later transferred to The University of Texas at El Paso where he is pursuing a degree in art education. His work varies from drawing, ceramics, sculpture, painting, and printmaking. Holt’s works have been shared at The Las Cruces Museum of Art, The Rubin Center, and various spaces throughout El Paso. He has carried out artists residencies at Casa Ortiz and Toma Gallery and Studios where he curated monthly exhibitions with local artists. His inspiration comes from his travels, storytelling, and sharing mental and emotional states to connect with his viewers.
"Often say in another life I was a printmaker. I really enjoy all the various printmaking methods, the steps it takes it takes to create a print, the smell of ink rolling, and the community that comes with printmakers. I have also been fortunate enough to work alongside my mentor Manny Guerra in his shop at Horned Toad Prints. It's great to have a support system in the art community that believes in your work and pushes you to continue to create."
